Creative expression through art and music – free Vivaldi concert

The Australian Baroque will return to the Margaret River HEART stage next month with a free lunchtime concert featuring projected paintings and poetry created by Margaret River Independent School students.

Vivaldi Concertos and Summer from the Seasons presented on March 18 follows on from the national ensemble’s artist residency, which took place at Margaret River Independent School with local artist Rachel Wyder in October last year.

Supported by the DLGSC and Lotterywest Creative Communities COVID-19 Recovery Program, Australian Baroque Artistic Director Helen Kruger said the residency has really opened new ways of working and reached new groups to work with.

“The project has been a unique opportunity to create a new approach to music making and listening. The students were able to explore the relationship between art and music and create art in response to our workshops and performances,” she said.

“Education is a core branch of our practice and our aim is to build significant and long-lasting ties with regional communities.

“The children have been an incredible bunch of kids to work with and we are really looking forward to sharing the work we have created together.”

Following a series of sold-out workshops and performances for the Homegrown@HEART Music Program’s classical outing last year, tickets to the Australian Baroque’s matinee performance are anticipated to be snapped up quickly.

To catch this world-class performance paired with the animations of local students, please register at margaretriverheart.com.au or call the Box Office on 08 9780 5294 between 10am and 4pm, Monday to Friday.
