Dance concert a dazzling success

Over 90 young performers from Tutu Dance Company celebrated 2021 with their first appearance on stage at Margaret River HEART for their inaugural end of year concert Believe.

Following a busy and successful year setting up their own local dance studio 12 months ago, Tutu Dance Company’s Annelise and Therese Colman, director and associate director respectively, said the performance was a great opportunity to showcase the work of their teams and dancers.

“Annelise and I both studied dance locally in the region, so it feels surreal for us both to have come back full circle to Margaret River and put on a show of our own,” Therese said.

“It actually makes us feel quite emotional – this is our hometown – and it’s just great to have the HEART right here on our doorstep, as it’s such a beautiful venue with professional services.

“Our dance families thoroughly enjoyed the event and were blown away with the professional environment and finished product the HEART helped us deliver.

“We look forward to continuing to put on our productions at HEART in years to come.”

HEART General Manager Nicky Hansen said it was a pleasure working with the Tutu Dance team and their army of volunteers, who ensured a memorable first stage experience for so many families.

“It’s great to see local talent on the stage. It was such a delight to watch 90 little budding dancers centre stage in a series of really well-done routines,” Ms Hansen said.

“We’re thrilled to have them booked in again for their second annual showcase next December.”

Tutu Dance Company run classes in Margaret River and Cowaramup during the school term for ages 19 months to adult.

The dance company caters for all ages and abilities, with lessons in classical ballet, contemporary, lyrical, jazz, and hip-hop. Burlesque classes are also offered for the over 18s ladies.
