HEART shines red for entertainment industry
In participation with the international #WeMakeEvents movement, red lights illuminated the Margaret River HEART on Wednesday evening to support the entertainment events industry.
The campaign actively raises awareness and money to help provide immediate support for Australia’s thousands of highly skilled industry professionals, both individuals and families impacted by COVID-19.
Margaret River HEART Technical Supervisor Phil Bebb said entertainment venues around the world have been devastated by the health crisis.
“The pandemic has left many in the industry with little or no work, so it’s been great to participate in the movement and unite with others across the nation to show our support,” Mr Bebb said.
“The events industry includes a huge supply chain ranging from production, audio, lighting and video to logistics, planning and transportation.
“Concerts, conferences, award shows and sporting events, just to name a few, all rely on hard work behind-the-scenes.
“We’re often seen as the invisible industry, but without the knowledge and labour of the talented creatives and technicians, many of these major projects wouldn’t be possible.”
For every major touring act that comes through Australia, on average 443 people are employed to stage the event in each city.
The #WeMakeEvents movement raises money through a combination of charity funds and commercial enterprises.
